It’s like I just look around and feel rather… left out. It’s like when I see someone in a nice car, I get the sensation that somehow things went “right” in their life that didn’t in mine. Like they were surrounded by the right supportive people and environment and learned helpful things that weren’t presented to me. When people find themselves in some kind of trouble, they have family to step in and help or offer support… and I don’t. My parents didn’t bother to establish themselves or much of anything for their kids. They just… never put down roots or planned ahead for us to go to college or things like that. My friends go visit their parents in their homes where they grew up, knowing someday, that home will be passed down to them or their siblings. They know if the s*** really hits the fan, their parents are there for them. I feel… maybe a lack of a sense of security or belonging. Orphaned. There’s no Thanksgiving to go to today because there is no tradition for us. There’s no sense that you are wanted around or held dear or that your presence is missed. I belong to no one. I’m not important. I’m lost.
