I set my mums wifi and home network up after the ISP installed the hardware. My kid sister usually deals with the ISP’s and I do the setting up but she’s left the family home now. Right Okaaay, you’re comps are fine your internet is working so before I leave if you get any phoncecalls from the ISP asking for bank account details just hang up.
It’s paid for you’ve signed the chit it’s installed and fully working. I was down today and asked mum hows the comp going? Oh I don’t know a Pakistani or Indian gentleman phoned me up earlier and said there was a problem with my internet, was she near a computer he asked? Okaaay chill bich, I hooked my mobile into her wifi, nope you’re internets perfect.
Jesus Christ they aren’t doing that old scam still are they? Thankfully my words of warning gave her the sense not to even bother talking to them. The scams stupid but all it is is a fake url and a re-direct but people do fall for it.
10 years ago we were getting super duper hyper fantastic broadband installed and while the ISP engineers were setting it up my wife took a phone call from an overseas call centre on behalf of the ISP and said there was a problem with the payment. She couldn’t send out the engineers until she had the bank details clarified.
My wife God love her grabbed our bank card and was about to give our bank details over the phone before I stopped her. It’s paid for they’re here, hang the f***** phone up! why? because they’re here setting it up it’s a scam. Are you sure? ISP blokes help me out here, sorry missus but once we get called out it’s been processed. We don’#t ask for payment and neither does the ISP. It’s a scam.
