Sometimes, I just hate the idea and concept of family. They’re people that we’re forced to love, forced to be with from birth. We don’t get a choice about family, yet we’re expected to love each other unconditionally, and make sacrifices for each other’s happiness. I think that’s why so many families have these underlying problems – a dysfunctionality that originates from the fact that maybe we wouldn’t choose to be with these people if we had the choice. And yes, yes we can walk away if we want. But society makes us feel like we owe them, we owe our family – it’s an unbreakable bond in the eyes of society. And the thing is, no one in my family has deliberately made me feel this way, yet I do, and it’s growing stronger as I’m growing older.
