I don’t like when people older than me call me “sir”. But it happens a lot because of my position at work and in the community. It puts me in an awkward position when I have to tell a man in his 50s, a full generation older than me, what to do, or what he did wrong. And then he has to smile and say “yes sir”. I wasn’t raised like this. But I have to do it. I don’t like it.
