That’s the other thing, Dan and Bruce Hall pretty much nailed it, what happened. Bruce saw that it originated in the Rocked booster, he knew that’s where it started, and then the fuel tank with the shuttle. I don’t think he talked O-Rimgs in the rocket joints being the cause, but those being cold in a launch well below recommended launch temp was the cause. They caused a seal leak, which allowed a flame leak, basically a blow torch on the fuel tank directly beside it which caused a chain reaction and destroyed everything. He also touched on the fact that it was unusually cold for a launch which really was the bottom line cause.

Dan though, “the Space Shuttle Challenger… Exploded into a giant bright ball of flaming fire and flame” it’s like easy Dan… Christ Almighty… I’m only 11 and can handle it, but think of the children, man. He’s not pulling My punches. He probably hadn’t seen any good action since Viet Nam. He had a pretty cool Space Shuttle model there too. I was impressed by that back then too. I’ve built a few of them since.
