i hate characters in detective stories that serve no purpose but to hang around and be annoying. and they’re usually female characters. why can’t authors give female characters good roles? women are normal people who can be good at their job, are capable of being funny, and have other personalities other than just be a preachy nun. but if i say i hate a female character, i’ll be accused of behaving internally lymysoginistic and only like gay stories.
