I will never forget the time my dance teacher asked me to close my eyes. We were in class, and he reminded me not to look at my feet while dancing. My answer was that I would make mistakes when not looking where I was going. At that point, he asked me: “I would like to try something. Would you close your eyes for me?” I was TERRIFIED, but still did it.
He took my hand and slowly danced me to the other side of the room. In that single minute I learned a new feeling I can barely describe to this day. While I could not see, I could still hear every detail in my surroundings, feel every movement he made. I didn’t bump into anyone, I didn’t make a single mistake. It was like flying, like finding out you’ve always known how to fly. Afterwards, I tried to appear as normal as I could, and prayed he wouldn’t notice anything, but I still blush thinking about it to this day.
