Is he protecting me?

I know I messaged this earlier this year, about my boyfriend being an online celebrity and my unease about his quick desire to stifle online talk about our relationship. However I must have confused people as the original replier thought I had never met him irl.

No, I’ve been dating him in person for all this time (till covid). I didn’t even know who he was, by online standard, until the second date.

Is his reason for not wishing to make our relationship public knowledge truely for my safety?

He isn’t in any way sketchy or untrustworthy, and I have no reason to believe he doesn’t want us to be happy.

So am I being jelous or naive?
