I don’t know how people can consider ‘gamer’ an identity. It’s like saying you’re a ‘watcher’ if you like tv or a ‘reader’ if you like books. None of these things are an identity. And for not being an identity at all, people who adopt the moniker are so set upon about people taking it away, even though no one gives half a s***. It’s almost as if they themselves are preemptively defensive about things they expect others to say about them. It’s almost like they know all these things and are turning the criticism on themselves! It’s almost like the baseless raging is defensive proof that it’s all true.

One follow up- people like to tout video games as art. Maybe so, Shadow of the Colossus made me cry when the horse dies and DDLC gave me nightmares. But remember… Piss Christ is also art.
