I think society is just fundamentally broken and I have no idea how to fix it. There’s so much wrong in the world. It seems like half the time we ignore it and half the time we penalize people forever for even small mistakes. There’s no accepted path to redemption or to live things down, no accountability. Everything just seems so arbitrary. I wish we could all just see each other as people. That we’d let people be flawed and that we’d let people make mistakes. I don’t know where the balance lies between making every mistake into a crisis and letting people get away with anything, and I don’t know if anyone else does, either. I think that’s half the problem.
