I’ve been watching suicide documentaries about how it feels and how loved ones talk about to be sure that it’s going to feel great when I try. I guess it will feel welcoming.

Others at work were recently talking about embarrassing personal experiences. There was one thing that I remembered but could never admit.

Probably 40 years ago I was doing something all teenage boys do and thought I was home alone. There I was just about to finish and realized I didn’t have anything to catch it with and ended up catching it in my cupped hand.

I was about ready to get off the bed and needed to use my other hand was well with the dripping mess. At that moment I became aware my older sister walked by my open door and witnessed it. She rolled her eyes and loudly said touch nothing.

She disappeared for a moment and returned and threw a box of tissues on the bed. I couldn’t even cover myself. As she stormed away she said don’t do that in the shower either, I don’t want to get it on me somehow.

Nothing more was ever said and I was thankful. I didn’t even do it for awhile and was really careful with such activities being in private after that.
