i remember when we’d walk together down this very street, when the hands of time weren’t so unforgiving, and the air was much sweeter, when the laws of life weren’t ever so cruel and the birds sang every morning. when it was fun to be a fool, and even more fun to be two. when i loved you, in a way i will never love again for the rest of my life. it never went away, i still do. in the summer i think of all the plans we made, and i wonder if somewhere in another universe, we have lived them out the way we always wanted
