I break down these walls in burning desperation to see you as you are, not as my mind wants me to believe you are. I have managed to break through just enough to feel the cool water flow over the aching scars I have learned to accept as a part of me just to be able to see outside. The spate pushes through the unyielding stone as best it can and I drink in its forgiving peace, forgetting for a moment my weariness, yet I can not be sated fast enough as I struggle to take it all in. I will not ever be able to etch the intricacies of these flowing movements into my mind accurately enough to be content, and if I did it all will have changed form by then. No memory can replace the source, but the wellspring itself is not mine for the taking. Frozen, empty places can diminish anger and pain – all but grief. Yet, the steady flow in these moments render my tears insignificant as something else begins to glow. I feel as if I have begun to breathe for the first time.
