I hate when my friend says some judgemental s*** and then looks to me for validation of their garbage take because a lot of his humor is centered on pseudo-intellectual dunks instead of actual dialectical discussions and discerning nuance.
That’s the problem with an obsession with “dunking” on either side. It just leads to shitbrained knuckleheads who think the fastest, snappiest retort is the correct one. That sets not only a ~bad~ precedent but a DANGEROUS one. Because not everyone that has a good point to make is an eloquent savant, and using spiciness as your barometer to measure contributions worth being heard and amplified is BAD.
Not everything is able to be made succinctly, and wanting that is giving in to a lizard brain. It’s a persistent desire because it’s easy and conserves precious energy in the thinky bits. But society’s evolution has FAR outpaced its biological one and so we MUST be vigilant of these pitfalls.
