Ten years ago I was asked my greatest fear. My greatest fear is to die alone. Here we are today, and I am still alone. I’ve been on a few dates. The people I feel a connection with do not feel one with me and those who feel one with me I do not. It’s like this feeling of mutual connection only ever happened in my 20s, and now it’s gone forever. I missed the boat and that’s it. I mean, I worked in academia. I’m kind. I’m empathetic. I have training in DEI and crisis management. I know how to connect with people. But on dates people just don’t feel the connection they want to feel with me, while all I am looking for in a first date is someone who passes the vibe check. We all deserve to feel romantically connected to a person, but does the match have to strike in the first hour we meet? I move slow by today’s standard, and I fear no one is ever going to give me the chance to show that when I choose them they get everything, all I have. Getting their is a process though. Trust takes time to build. We just met. Chill and enjoy the journey.
