It’s my birthday tomorrow, my seventeenth. I’ve never liked birthdays, I’ve learned not a lot of people do. But, my history with them is that I always end up crying somehow. Started with my thirteenth and has been consistent up until now. I just hate birthdays. They remind me of the fact I’m getting older and doing jackshit with my life and I hate the fact that I need to have a big party or whatever.
Regardless, I won’t say I don’t like at least a little attention. But, this year, I’m scheduled for my second vaccine dose on the day and my parents have taken this as a sign that we should just… not do anything for it. My mam is working, my dad will be too, I’m not getting a cake and we’re having f****** steak for dinner. I just… is it so much to ask that I get even a cake? And my mam’s treating it like it’s a big f****** joke because, “it’s only your seventeenth,” and she thinks it’s hilarious that she’s done no preparation for it.
I don’t know. My eighteenth is next year and I already know its going to be hell. I’ve decided that when I go to college and get out into the adult world I’m just not ever going to tell anyone my birthday. Too much hassle, I’ll just get myself a cake every year.
Anyways. This was probably too long. Sorry.
