I think you have nothing to complain about. I went to a private school where corporal discipline was practiced. I got in trouble several times and was taken to the front of the room each time. Their attitude was that if I got punished in school then I must have done something to deserve it. I think the apology note encouraged the teacher to punish me more often. It was so humiliating but my parents were right. I brought it on myself and I deserved it.
