Ingrid the wild goose was running away from her abusive owner Zane. She happened to be somewhere in Sweden when she decided to take a break in the forest. However, Ingrid didn’t notice that the fire was spreading through the forest. Terrified, she flew towards the exit; but the smoke was dimming her vision and she was losing her balance. At the last moment, a white goose appeared in front of her, which carried her away from the forest affected by the wildfire.

The white goose that saved Ingrid was actually a domestic gander called Morten, who had a rope hanging around his neck (he too was abused by his owner). Morten introduced his new acquaintance to the members of a flock of wild geese flying to Lapland. That’s how Ingrid found company and refuge.

Over time, Ingrid realized that she felt more than gratitude towards the white gander, which saved her life. However, soon a blue-and-white goose named Dunfin joined their flock and Morten fell in love with her. He managed to resist the courtship of Dunfin’s sisters, his future sisters-in-law. There was also Suirii, a goose Morten didn’t pay special attention to. Ingrid was watching how the romance was blooming between the gander that saved her life, and some other goose. Ingrid was not pushy by nature, but this time she decided not to hold back her emotions.

So, one evening when all the geese had laid down to rest, Ingrid flew to Morten’s place. She found him half asleep. When he opened his eyes, he saw a familiar face looking at him lovingly. Morten got up and left the nest. Ingrid and Morten flew through the air, landed on the surface of the lake and then embraced. Now they were in a clearing, far from the flock. Ingrid looked into Morten’s eyes and into his beak, which she wanted to feel on hers.

And that’s what happened. As the sun was setting and the horizon was covered with beautiful colors at twilight, Ingrid and Morten mated. No one was supposed to know about that. At parting, they agreed not to say a word about it to anyone. But since then, Ingrid suffered even more for Morten.

In the end, Morten’s wife left him. Together with his lover Ingrid, Morten soared into the sky and the two of them flew far away.
