Every time I play a video game, I imagine myself taking the place of the main character if he is male and becoming the hero in the video game. For better understanding, in any of the Legend Of Zelda video games, I am not Link. Link doesn’t exist at all. Instead it is me that’s the hero that saves Hyrule. In the game Infamous, I’m not Cole McGrath. No such character exist. I am the one with the abilities and use them to help people. Even stranger, if the main character of a video game is female, then I’m not taking her place. Instead, I imagine myself travelling with her on her adventures and she ends up falling in love with me. Although some female characters die in their respective video games, I fantasize a completely different ending for them where they live and we live happily together. But now, even stranger, I want this fantasy to become a reality. I would love it if a video game world suddenly became real so that I could either end up the hero and get the girl or the hero is a girl who ends up falling in love with me.
