My older sister was watching me and my best friend when she got her first period. She was 14, we were both 7. She knew what was happening when we told her there was blood on her pants and she needed to call 911 immediately. She went to the bathroom, fixed herself up, and changed. She gave us a very short explanation of it being a female problem and said if we had questions, to ask our mothers. Me and my friend wanted to know what she had done and why she was so calm and fine. We went into the bathroom, opened the cabinet (we had heard her do it), and pulled out everything. We eventually narrowed down the stuff to a box of pads, a box of tampons, and some weird cleaning thing. We pulled every pad and tampon out of the boxes, unwrapped them, and together did everything we could think of with them. Y’know, that’s enough storytelling. Let’s just finish it with how my best friend from second grade almost choked to death on a tampon.
