I work for a company that coordinates long-distance field trips for schools. We have a fleet of charter busses and even a leased passenger jet that we use to get students to their destinations. Most of our field trips involve taking students from around the country to Washington D.C.

Part of my job is quality control on our fleet. That is, I have to make sure all of the busses and jet are clean.

EVERY SINGLE TIME we do business with a predominately black school, the busses come back filthy. We have to get them professionally cleaned, which costs about $1,000 per bus. With other schools – with mostly white or Hispanic students – we only have to sweep the floors and wipe the seats. Our own people do that.

We finally – at my suggestion – quit using our own jet to fly groups with mostly black students. Now we charter a jet from a different company for those groups, so that company can deal with the clean up.
