I am so tired of being the broke friend. Literally ALL of my friends have loads of money & go places & have fun and I just have to sit in the house & do nothing. I’ve tried sooo hard to find a job, online, in person, & via phone calls. I’ve even put ads out, but nothing is happening. I go to the interview & get the job only to find out that it requires me to have reliable transportation, which is hard for me because I don’t have a license or a car & I don’t have money to constantly take the bus & there aren’t any places hiring that are close to my area. It’s just hard.
Now, with school. That’s a whole ‘nother story. I was depressed for about 3 weeks because even though I have my high school diploma now, I wasn’t able to participate in the ceremony because I missed ONE Algebra credit & had to go back to the school the following week to make up for it, which is why I’m JUST NOW getting my diploma. It just s**** because I didn’t get to experience the joy of walking & having my friends & family to be there & congratulate me. I also never took the ACT or SAT because I’m too poor to pay the expenses for it. I also haven’t heard back from any of the colleges I applied to, my GPA isn’t very good & I’m pretty sure no college will accept me.
Now w/ my friends. Like I said, they’re all pretty rich. Especially my best friend, Jessie. Her dad owns a real estate business in Atlanta & Ohio, and he also owns a construction company. Her family owns 9 cars (3 being luxury cars) & 7 dogs( 2 being pure-bred from ITALY) She has everything! Good looks, a great body, she’s extremely smart w/ a philosophical mindset, she plays soccer, basketball, & runs track, her GPA & ACT scores are phenomenal, she has loads of cash, & big house is Mason, Ohio, not to mention, she has AMAZING HAIR & TEETH! And then you have me; not very pretty, got a cross-bite (can’t afford braces), frizzy/curly hair, I’m pretty smart but my GPA says other wise, only ran track for one year, school sucked for me, & I’m practically poor. So, you could say I’ve always kind of adored/envied her. She’s super humble though. She’s not a show-off like most rich people. But I know she gets tired of paying for me when we go places & I don’t want to be a burden on her anymore. Oh yeah, did I mention that she got accepted in my dream college, OHIO STATE! I was crushed because I know I’ll never be able to get into a school like that, but I was happy for her, because she totally deserved it.
I just want a stable job, with a nice income (mainly so I can help my mom w/ the bills) & nice teeth & hair. I know people say “money doesn’t buy happiness”, but it sure makes it a lot easier. I want to be able to go to a good college & be successful. My life has just been a really bumpy road. I want to prosper. But prosperity is so hard when you have so many obstacles everyday of your life!
