I am a teacher at a school where every student is issued a laptop. Part of that issuance includes signing a consent form, which of course no one reads. Buried in that laptop consent form is a line saying that the school may record keystrokes and screenshots on the laptops. We do that to catch anyone doing anything they shouldn’t be doing with the school property. It’s my job to monitor the laptops.

There is a program that scans the keystroke logs for certain words, like s***** and swear words, and alerts me to look at that student’s logs further. A few weeks ago, I got an alert to look deeper into the activity for one of my female students. She had been typing some VERY s***** things on her school laptop.

I discovered that she has been emailing her boyfriend from school. But the logs enough aren’t enough to go to the principal with, so I set the program to also begin taking screen shots every 15 seconds of laptop usage.

Today I looked at those screen shots. Hundreds of them. Mostly nothing – her typing papers or surfing the net.

Then, during lunch, she took her laptop into the bathroom and put on a show for her boyfriend. Judging from the every-15-seconds pictures I got of it, he is a VERY lucky guy.

I have decided that, since she is about to graduate in two weeks anyway, and she can get expelled for this even though she is 18, I will just let it go. No sense ruining her college future. She will never know that I have seen these. She may even do a few more in the next two weeks. The big question is, should I be saving these?

New Confession

It’s a official!

The Toronto Catholic District School Board verified with me that Sister Marie Howorth had no fuc kin right in holy hell to ask me this question,

“Now Carm, your father died, was that sudden?”

My father’s death was simply none of Sister Marie Howorth’s dam business. I didn’t disclose to her that he had died and she had no right to know about it.

It’s my privacy and it’s my grief (mind you it’s difficult to grieve a man that called my mother an ugly warthog).

According to the Toronto Catholic District School Board,

“If you didn’t disclose to Sister Marie Howorth that your father had died then she should NOT have asked about him.”

The Toronto Catholic District School Board has verified with me that Sister Marie Howorth

“Did not handle the situation well.”

And the former Deputy Director of the M.S.S.B had no right to ask Sister Marie Howorth nor my guidance counselor to talk to me about my dead father. Again, that information is MINE to disclose!!!

I am human and I am allowed to be touched by stories about young people who die tragically.

I am allowed to be touched by “Jane” and I am allowed to say that she influenced by life in a positive way, leading me to friendships that led me to work in the North.

The M.S.S.B Deputy Director had every right to be offended by me. I regret …I fuc kin regret contacting him….But I wish he could have told me to just stop contacting him and his family instead of sending Sister Marie Howorth to psychologically torture me….

F*** YOU Sister Marie Howorth! The school board takes my side!

Forcing a conversation about the nature of my dad’ s death DOES NOT SHOW THE LIGHT OF CHRIST! Far from it! It’s completely depraved of compassion!

F*** YOU Judy Wright if you feel that Sister Mare Howorth had a right to ask me invasive questions about my father’s death, cause the school board TAKES MY SIDE. AND F*** YOUR UNCLE as his son was caught stealing VCRs at the Honeydale Walmart, as noted in the March 1999 Etobicoke Life paper!!! And my mamma taught me not to steal! Unlike Johnny, I was always an honest Bay Girl 😊

SISTER MARIE HOWORTH HAD NO FUC KIN RIGHT TO ASK ME PRIVATE QUESTIONS ABOUT MY FATHER’S DEATH…SHE HAD NO F*** IN RIGHT TO PRY INTO MY PERSONAL TRUAMA…

I’ll scream that on a mountain top if I have to!
