My Mother is a nurse and her sister is a physician. Mother and the physician teach a private group of student nurses. Occasionally a CNA or a medical student is present. I am utilized as a teaching example so students can practice on a real patient rather than on rubber mannequins.
One of the students brought along a tiny cuff used to take the blood pressure of a dog or cat. The tiny blood pressure cuff is wrapped around the dog or cat’s tail. The student wrapped it around my “tail” (my co ck) to get my blood pressure. The nursing students all giggled and made jokes, but then they each took turns wrapping the cuff around my erection and taking my blood pressure reading. The reading from my “tail” was just as accurate as the reading from the cuff on my arm. There were lots of comments, jokes and pics taken.
The doctor explained this is the method to get a blood pressure reading in the Emergency Room when no other avenue is available. She went on to explain how the “tail” is used in other ways in emergency medicine.
I have been used as a teaching example many times to allow the students to have unfettered access. Let me know if you wish to hear more about other occasions and what the student nurses do.
