I live in a large European city. Yesterday about 250 youths aged from around 16-23 gathered into the city square and they stared playing music on instruments they brought, dancing and having fun. I was filled with pure rage and jealousy watching them. I am 41, when I was their age this is exactly the kind of thing I dreamed of doing. But no, in the 90s and early 00s that wasn’t considered cool. You had to like a set few pop artists, bands and techno songs or you were considered a loser and were bullied. You couldn’t just start an improv street party or sing whatever you wanted in public with your friends. Those young guys playing their guitars could have f)ucked any beautiful girl there they wanted and they probably did. That should have been my youth.
If I couldn’t have had that kind of youth, nobody else should have it either. Why them and not me? I yearned for those kinds of social happenings, but they never occurred because I was a teen in the wrong time. F]uck them. I deserved that too. They shouldn’t be allowed to have what I couldn’t.
