Last year a married person hit on me. It was flattering and I even encouraged it for a little while because it was just nice to feel like I was attractive. For a brief while I actually entertained the idea of going further. It ended pretty quickly when the “harmless flirting” turned into a come-on that I couldn’t ignore or pretend was anything other than what it was, and I realized that I didn’t want to be that person who starts an affair with someone else. I immediately cut all contact with them.

For the longest time I decided not to tell anyone because I was afraid that they’d just think that I was a w**** or that I was lying. I finally ended up telling one of my friends and they seemed to believe me. Flash forward months later and they confessed that they thought it was all in my head and that while they didn’t think I was lying, that they thought that I was just reading too much into things. What made them change their tune was the other person’s extreme reaction to them telling the married person why I was no longer talking to them.

This really hurt me because it really just confirms that I shouldn’t have trusted anyone enough to tell them. It makes me wonder if I can trust anyone, especially the person I talked to. I mean, what if the other person had forced themselves on me? Would I have been “misunderstanding” the situation then? Why is it that I can’t seem to trust my own damn friends to believe me when I say that a married person made a s*****/romantic move on me? I don’t honestly know if I can trust this person anymore. I could give a s*** about the other person, but hearing that my own friend thought I was pretty much telling a lie.
