I desperately need a cornea transplant in both eyes. My vision is constantly getting worse, I’m legally blind and now unable to drive or work. I can barely see what I’m typing right now.
Problem is, It is a very expensive surgery and I have no insurance, and no government help. I have no way to pay for it. My friend encourages me to start a fundraiser online but the idea appalls me. The thought of asking my family and friends to fork over their hard earned money for my well being makes me feel guilty and embarrassed. Everyone is struggling. How can I ask people to help me? I’ll feel like I’m whining and begging, and trying to make them feel sorry for me so they’ll donate. Is it pride? Am I right to hate this idea? Should I just give in and do it? Or should I keep my silence and go blind? No one would donate anyway. People only donate to little children or teenagers who need medical care… not grown women.
