Mary Elizabeth confesses once more: “Edward offered me his hand and I took it. I had finally left the countryside mansion, where I lived with my husband Henry and our servants. Here I was again in the village where I met Edward, whom I lost my virginity with before my parents forced me to marry Henry, a rich merchant from the center of the city. I looked longingly towards the grove, where Edward and I often made love. I felt a sense of peace and tranquility come over me. So I left my husband, who I didn’t love and he didn’t love me either. After all, it was an arranged marriage and I didn’t want to stay in it anymore. Now I was with my lover again and we didn’t have to hide anymore. Edward smiled at me and we kissed as the sun went down down the horizon.”
