I guess if you want to be the master of the flamenco or you want to learn to shred fast, nylon is the way to go. Learn some classical.

If you want to just bang out some chords and melodies rock style, a nylon stringed guitar will not allow you to get the tone and bite of a classic power chord. You can’t get certain tones out of a nylon string guitar. Big chords don’t have the same jangle ring that a steel string will. You could also say a person is better off getting tough right off the bat. Don’t start on flimsy dead sounding nylon, jump into steel strings right off the sh-bang. Thicker the better.
