Has anyone seen NCIS? The earlier seasons?
My parents and older brother had a period of at least two years where they would “Gibbs slap” me if I said anything “stupid.” I developed a major upper-body flinch in response to anyone so much as reaching out toward me because I was so used to needing to duck whenever I faced a judgement of “stupid,” and, in general, I had serious self-image issues because of it. I wasn’t big on those kind of shows and still am not, but I know now that if I watched NCIS it would set off a trauma response.
