I didn’t get into my early decision. I didn’t even get deferred, just rejected totally. I couldve gotten in if I just worked a little bit harder or did a few more extra curricular activities and community service hours. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do now. wait for my second choice results to come in and try to forget about what could’ve been? my parents keep telling me that college apps are completely ridiculous this year and for every person who gets in there were 5 others just as good who got rejected because there wasn’t enough room, but I don’t believe that. they’re just trying to make me feel better. I was supposed to be the smart one. I don’t have anything else. what am I now that I can’t even get into college? I feel like I’ve failed everyone. I spent the past 12 years of my life working myself to death, always putting school before anything else in my life, and now I’m looking back and wondering what i missed out on. I mean, if I can’t even get into college, then what was the point of working so hard? I could’ve been having fun this whole time. but mostly I feel bad for my parents. they worked so hard to be able to send my siblings and me to good schools and set us up to be successful in life, and I just floundered away all their hard work. they paid extra money to find me a college counselor outside of school and apparently it did nothing. I cost them so much time and effort and money and couldn’t even pay them back for their sacrifice by getting into a good school. I know they’re disappointed in me and just don’t want to make me feel worse by letting me know. I don’t know what to do now.
