I’m afraid of my father, I can’t stand to sit or be around in him – it’s uncomfortable. I may easily forgive him for the terrible things he has said or done to me, but I just can’t seem to forget all that pain that has been endured. A child shouldn’t have to fear being alone in a car, home or feel frightened by their parent let alone their father? I shouldn’t have to brace myself whenever he gets up to quickly from his chair, scratch his head in frustration or have to consistently walk on eggshells whenever I’m around him. If I’m being honest, I can’t remember the last time we genuinely had a real conversation – my dad and I are strangers now. He doesn’t actually know me or what goes on in my life, we never see eye to eye and for some reason I still feel bad for him even after all that he has put me through. I just wish that I could have a relationship with my dad like I see with my friends dads, I miss the memories I had with him.
