My sister, although she refuses to call me that in private because I am adopted, has burnt her bridges from her family by filming us in secret, stealing our social security cards, physically and emotionally abusing us. She had no one left because we all saw her for who she truly was so she had the audacity and the sickening idea that getting into contact with my biological family and becoming buddy buddy with them was the greatest thing that she could do for herself. I believe she did it because if she could get to them first and tell them an entirely different story as to why we no longer have contact with her, then they would have a higher chance of believing whatever lies she came up with than whatever I have on court documents and hospital records.

It honestly hurts because suddenly my Biological family is asking me and my little sister why we won’t reconnect with her and them. Every time I explain just a small fraction of what she did to us they always say something like “She’s a nice girl though. She’d never do that.” or it’s something like “That’s not how it happened according to what she’s told us.”

Abusers groom their peers just as much as they groom and abuse their victims. Always remember that.
