We were wandering around the lake and Josh complained that he was tired and hungry most of the time. Jillian and I were having a great walk together. She found an arrow head!!! I mentioned the fishing poles we had left behind twice. It was hardly noon and he was already really cranky. “I”M Gonna Go Pee!!!” he announced suddenly to the world with an insane looking grimace directed totally at Jillian, and a touch towards me. He went scampering off like it was a thing. Jill and I almost laughed we giggled so hard, but she looked a little uncomfortable. Embarrassment? After a moments minute I noticed that Jillian looked even more uncomfortable. Not so happy. Then after a minute, she admitted, yes, she had to piddle too. I asked a few quick innocent questions and was pretty surprised with her answers. Girls can’t, don’t, never, Etc… We found a quiet spot behind some laurel where she held my hand, squatted, and peed in the woods. As girls can and should be able to do without a seconds thought or any harassment. She borrowed my bandanna to pat dry and felt proud being a girl in the woods. Holy crap… She did understand that hanging onto a tree was just as good and more private. I Think she liked me being there. I let her keep the large kerchief. It became a token to her. Then I kind of turned and watered a tree. She giggled at the reference. I was a little surprised that she hadn’t asked or tried to see me. I had packed a light picnic lunch that Josh hadn’t cared to notice this morning; and when he tried to be a brute to the both of us about her peeing in the woods, let alone at the same time as we began to serve the sandwiches up— I put my foot down. “Either you start being polite and civil young man or go hunt squirrels without a goddamned gun and take care of your own fucken food and your own fucken roof and your own damn self because the two of us are f****** tired as hell of this pissy boy/girly piss ant Crap!!!” Our little camp was silent for 10 minutes as I made a full pot of hot chocolate on the little fire Jillian helped me make. “If your not going to be nice than be ALONE!!!” Jillian said softly. A pause and I looked at his brilliant blue eyes. Much like hers but colder and cruel looking. “We love you Josh. Jillian loves you; but your being such a a******!!!” He was ashamed. With good right. We let him be for a short time until he almost dropped his grilled bologna and cheese. He Cried and made an apology mostly to Jillian. It was to freaken sweet. We all kind of hugged it out and ate lunch with smiles and laughter.
