Ok, this is going to sound like an absolute shitshow but here we go.
I and my family had two kittens, a tuxedo & a calico that we hand raised and had socialized pretty well. The tuxedo was a real sweetheart, he was the crier of the litter and a fan favorite of the household.
The tuxedo was about 4 months old when he was hit with parvo. We didn’t know it at the time, and he sadly passed away the same night.
Suddenly, the other kitten has a ton of fleas and we are constantly doing flea shampooings and the such. You get the picture. It’s a bloody mess. Guess what she catches? That’s right. F******. Parvo.
So we’re making sure she’s alright today, I’m stressed out so I apologize for the harsh language but I digress. My mother decides to head out and foster a couple of two-month-old kittens.
She’s just made my entire weekend a living hell because the shelter doesn’t open tomorrow. She’s a f****** idiot. I’m sorry to diss my own mother, she birthed me, loved me, and cherished me enough to keep me, but even though I love her, she’s absolutely brainless.
Those kittens are on bathroom lockdown now and I’m extremely paranoid about the cali’s fleas somehow spreading the disease (I know it’s a virus but I’m already a very anxious person)
I’m extremely stressed now and all because her dumbass decided ‘oh hey, let’s make things happier without having a second thought!’
Does anyone have any advice on what to do in a situation like this? I’ve googled everything but I’ve found no solutions. There really aren’t guides on how to un-foster cats.

I should clarify: the shelter closed at 2 pm, two hours ago.
No need to apologise. Keeping the new kittens in the bathroom is the best thing for now. Stop worrying about catching anything from the fleas. Unless you live where plague is active like US Southwest it’s ok. Your mom’s heart is in the right place. You however are freaking out needlessly. The biggest danger is new kittens catching parvo from previous one. Wash your hands often. Hang on til shelter opens.
What you’re talking about might actually be feline distemper.
The virus can stay within the household, carried from fleas, stick on clothing/surfaces including your clothes. I’m not sure about distemper, but I know parvo can stay in the ground for 6 months if left untreated correctly. Unfortunately there’s no cure for parvo or distemper.
You need to kill the virus and sanitize everywhere with bleach with disposable booties and gloves. Also, get rid of the fleas! I would call your local veterinary clinic/shelter on necessary actions and future preventives. Do not just do a walk-in appointment into the clinic or shelter, as it is very contagious and puts other pets at risk…
Thank you for the advice, It definitely helped out a bit. And yeah, we think it’s distemper too. The cali’s on vet meds & under hard supervision. The vet can’t book us in tonight, which is why I was panicking so hard.
EDIT: A friend took the kittens in for the time being & luckily was trying to get their kid to learn responsibility. Crisis averted, I can now enjoy my weekend without all the stress. The kittens are safe and will be having constant vet visits for the next couple of weeks.
