Would making self inserts assist in story writing?? Like, this is a genuine question. I’m running out of character ideas, and was thinking of making a side character a self insert, so that I can better understand the goal of the story. The side character will retain all my personal flaws and personality traits, as I want to make the world feel realistic. People have such a hatred against self inserts though… which worries me.
