I don’t know why everyone shares the same image of 12-13 year olds, young millennials obsessed with technology, won’t work to get where they need to in life, and spoiled brats who get whatever they want from their parents, and if they don’t, they get mad. True, most 12-13 year olds are like this, but some aren’t. As a 12 year old, I understand what technology can do to you. It rots your brain and ruins your eyesight. That’s why I limit the time I spend on it. I can get what I want from my parents, but I choose not to ask for anything. Of course, from time to time I see something I like, and I ask for it, everyone does. And if my mom/dad can get it, it’s fine. I don’t need it. Also, I practically grew up playing video games with my dad. You would expect me to be obsessed with them today, well, I am, but that’s not the point. I don’t play many of today’s games. The best video games were made back in the 90’s or the early 2000’s. Like, for example, the classic Mario games, or the classic legend of Zelda games, and many more. Well, enough about video games. Let’s move onto social media. I have social media, everyone has some form of social media. But for example, instagram. You get a like, it feels good. Facebook, you get a like, it feels good. Because it releases a chemical called dopamine. It’s the same chemical that encourages addiction, drugs, alcohol, etc. Our generation can’t live without social media. And as we evolve, we’re getting more and more insecure. That’s were social media comes in, it shows that we’re good at putting filters on things. It’s like saying “Hey! Life’s good, but I’m insecure and depressed!”. So we look up to our idols, successful people in life. We believe “I’ll never be as good as them. I’m not talented enough, or I’m not smart enough.” Even though our whole life, everyone around us was convincing us that we can have and do anything. And some people are so insecure, they take it out on other people. They pick vulnerable people, like “fags” or “nerds”. A “f*****” is a twig, when and why did they call gay people fags? (I’m not against homosexuality, I’m confused myself.) We don’t want to get up in the morning and go to school, because we would have to learn. We can’t go on instagram and look at memes all day, we have to learn about the history of the world. Sorry if this turned into “why do people think ALL 12-13 year olds are cringey” to how this messed up generation is today. I’m just sharing my personal opinion.
