I’m not sure if this really counts as a confession, but I just feel like I need to get it out. I have very short hair, like pixie short, but I’m growing it out, and I recently decided to get clip-in hair extensions so nobody has to see my real hair during that awkward mullet stage. These extensions are very long, they should go down to my waist. I’m going to buy them tomorrow, so I told my friends over Facebook and only one of them replied, and this is the general jist of what she said “Mmm, I dunno, I like you better with short hair.” I mean, I feel like I can’t please anyone. No matter what I do, someone always gets upset, even if it’s something as stupid as my hair. I have received some horrible comments from other people about my short hair, and it really isn’t doing wonders for my self confidence. Also, these hair extensions do look really realistic and are apparently really good, as well as cheap – they are synthetic, but they look and feel like real hair, and they match my hair colour almost perfectly. But it’s just so discouraging to hear somebody say that you shouldn’t change your appearance just because they don’t like it. It’s just hair. If I want to grow my hair out really long, I should be allowed to grow my hair out really long without people complaining about it every other day. I do like having my hair short as well, but I’ve kept it in a really short hairstyle for three years now, and it’s just getting boring and repetitive, and keeping it as a pixie cut is actually quite expensive, so long hair is just more convenient at this exact moment in time. Plus, you can do more with longer hair, and it was only after I got my hair cut really short when I discovered loads of amazing braided hairstyles that I want to try out, but I couldn’t because I had a pixie cut. I just want to be able to do whatever I want with my own hair. Is that such a big ask?
