When I first heard that you were leaving, I wasn’t the same. I felt like a part of me was going to be taken, then I forgot about it for weeks. Then I was told a second time, I had the same reaction. I cried myself to sleep but I wasn’t supposed to know so I had to act normal.
When you finally told me I found out you told others before you brought it up, you didn’t think it was a big deal but your eyes disagreed. You told people who didn’t care, which didn’t make sense to me at the time. But you just didn’t want a reaction. But when you brought it up that day in the park I didn’t cry the past few times, I held my head high but when I got home I couldn’t fight it.
Several weeks later, you’re only around for four more. I’ve finally realized something, you make me happy but I don’t need you to be happy. I didn’t see you all week and it didn’t bother me. But you know what’s funny? When you have a choice to walk home with me and you don’t you get all sad at the bus stop, I don’t understand. I want to help you but you don’t make it easy for me, but when you have the choice and choose to catch the bus even when you are happy – call me selfish – but I want you to walk home.
It hurts when you don’t, I don’t need you to be happy though but it’d be nice to keep you around.
