I can’t stand Arabs, but I did a DNA test and I am 2% Arab. It’s because my grandad was Sicilian. Lot’s of Arabs moved to Southern Italy centuries ago, also many were taken there as slaves by the Romans. If you listen to Sicilian’s and Italian’s speak, the language sounds quite different, Sicilian Italian has few Arabic words and quite of lot of Arabic vowels.
It doesn’t change how I feel about modern Arabs, but Arabs from 200+ years ago, I feel slightly interested in since 2% of me comes from these people, I would not exist without them.
