My doctor recently told me that my abdominal pain could be caused by ovarian cysts. I just turned 17 a couple of days before and when she offered to get me an ultrasound, I declined because I’m too afraid of what they’ll find…

  • Do you want cancerous growths in your vagina or many tiny holes later in life in that region which will be infected by maggots or bacteria? No?

    Then go for ultrasound.

Your body sends you early warning alarms from time to time, it is how you interpret them and what you do about them, which determines how long you might live for and what manner of death you might choose and how painful that is likely to be.
Given that you know the cause, but you don’t know why you are getting them, now would be a really good time to have an Ultrasound and get any problems dealt with, before the situation becomes much worse, if left untreated and might easily cause your eventual painful early death, because you were too cowardly to save yourself, or your life.
You are not alone in having to make difficult decisions about your health, your body and your life – that is what being called an adult (well almost) means and everyone, you, me, them, has to make these decisions for ourselves and our ongoing continuity.
    Best Wishes……

  • Hun I know exactly how you feel, I’m 16 and have had them and they are probably the most painful things I’ve had and I’ve been through a few painful experiances, so leaving the ultrasound wouldn’t be the best idea.
I was too afraid, but the pain became so bad I literally said “Do whatever you need” and bam, had an ultrasound. Ovarian cysts are caused during the egg cycle and can sometimes happen randomly or if you have Polycystic ovaries- which I have.
My advice is to get them checked out with a scan since it can pinpoint the exact location, size and best way to go about it, which is a type of medication. Leaving them can be dangerous and risk chances of becoming fertile and being able to give birth so DON’T RISK IT!

If your afraid of what they’ll find don’t be, in my opinion if you leave it and don’t have an ultrasound then you should be afraid of the damage it will cause if left.
And don’t worry about the scans, they do not hurt what so ever in fact they’re quit strange: It’s just a liquid jelly substance on this smooth piece of plastic that goes over your stomach and lower area (not right between the legs more bikini line).

I really hope you do get better and please have one done x
