Elizabeth Charlotte 1693.
“There were just the four of us in my apartments after supper: Monsieur, me, my son and my daughter. Monsieur, who didn’t consider us fine enough company to trouble himself by talking, after a long silence let off a great long fart (by your leave, by your leave). He turned to me and said, “What was that Madame?” I turned my behind in his direction, let off in the same tone and said, “that Monsieur”. My son said, “If it comes to that, I can do as well as Monsieur and Madame”, and let off a good one, too. Then we all laughed and left the room.”

I’m really glad that Philippe and Elizabeth Charlotte enjoyed fart jokes as much as I do.
