I just really want to tell this guy everything, but he’s not very communicative and I don’t want to scare him off anymore than I have. I notice that he doesn’t talk to this girl he was dating anymore in class, but I have no clue if they broke up. I really didn’t think about him for a while until I’m noticed–I’m very observant. And I thought he was, too, but he hasn’t had the heart to text me even though he looks at me in class often? I’m just confused…

Just talk to him. Ask him if everything’s okay, show him that you are there.
If he doesn’t want to talk, there’s nothing you can do.
