To: I cut myself agian after stopping for nearly a year. Im a f****** mess.
Me: You stopped for a whole year, WOW that is amazing.
What matters here is that you stopped and controlled yourself for so long.
Whenever you are recovering from an illness, because that’s what cutting is, you will always have the occasional relapse, but that does not matter.
What matters is that you stopped for so long the last time and you have set yourself a positive target to pass by, after this episode, of not cutting yourself, for the next time around.
The other thing is that something triggered you this time, to cut.
Do you know what that was, so that you will always remember that trigger in future and try to avoid it.
Be positive for what you have achieved and keep working at it.
When you occasionally cut yourself, well that’s par for the course, accept it and move on.
Try to place yourself in circumstances where you don’t have the opportunity or compulsion to cut yourself.
Move the things you cut yourself with, to somewhere high up, so that they are difficult to reach, so that you slow down on your compulsion and give you time to change your mind.
Something to hand, is a lot easier to use, than something which isn’t.
Enjoy your life.
Best Wishes………………….
