I catfished my own student.

It was 2009, and our school had an “off and away” cell phone policy for students during the day. One day, during my lunch break, I heard a student’s cell phone buzzing in her bookbag. I checked it and noticed that she’d received some kik messages. They were clearly from her boyfriend. They were very sexual in nature.
I wrote down her kik screen name for future use.

Several months later, over summer break, I created a fake kik profile. I posed as an Australian teenager and “accidentally” messaged her, like I had the wrong screen name. To my surprise, she responded immediately and, when I said I had the wrong person, she begged me to keep talking to her. She said she was bored and had strict parents.

So we chatted off and on for a few days. Eventually, she began to call me her online boyfriend, and I took the opportunity to request pictures and videos of her. I convinced her to send me a daily video of her getting dressed in the morning, so I could “pretend I was with her in real life.”

When school began again, she was once again my student. The morning videos continued, and I would sometimes quietly watch her video behind my desk, while she and her classmates were working on some project. Nothing in my life has ever made me as excited as those times. I usually had to use my next planning period to beat off in the faculty bathroom.

I knew this couldn’t go on forever. The real me… the middle-aged teacher… was developing real feelings for her.

So, one day, I came up with some bullshit reason that I wouldn’t be online for a few weeks. I think I told her I was going camping with my family. She understood, and said she would wait for me to come back online.

That night, I deleted the email and kik accounts I’d been using, and ghosted on her completely.

Like I said, that was ten years ago. I still Google her from time to time, just to see how she’s doing. And I still get a lot of enjoyment from the dozens of pictures and videos she sent me, all of which I kept.
