I grew up in the carribbean, in Trinidad to be specific. I was surrounded by “people of colour” as my college class mates say. I live in Europe, attending one of the best universities in the world. I regret leaving my island paradise. I’ve never experienced racism before coming here. My religion was never a worry. I’ve never been looked down on as a woman of colour. I wish I could go back home to my sweet island. Trinidadians are ignorant to the paradise they have, even if the murder count is so high. God really is a Trini.
