My relationship is a joke.

I proposed to my partner because I thought that after 10 years together it was the right move. Out of embarrassment he asked me to marry him right after and has told everyone that he asked me to marry him. 13 years and while everyone else’ around us is evolving we are still standing still. He is my first and so I find it hard to leave him despite the many offers from other guys.

We have a beautiful home but all of our bookshelves (apart from one) have his game books crammed onto them, he goes to live action role play 3 times a week and if he’s not playing computer games on his phone, he is playing it on his lap top.

All of his friends are teenagers and 20 something’s and when they mature and move on to other things he doesn’t. He continues with his role playing and just finds other friends who are teenagers or in their early 20’s. He is almost 40 and while I don’t think there is anything wrong with him having fiends who are younger than him, I don’t understand why he can’t see. That they are maturing as adults onto other things and he is not.

I’ve tried showing him wedding venues, offered to pay for the wedding and “nothing.” I’ve given up now and I cringe everytime a relative says, “So what’s going on?”

My Mum told me that even though I am a lot younger than him; if I am considering having children then I seriously need to stop wasting my time. I pretend to be happy but even stranger tell me that in photographs I look “dead” in the eyes.
