A lot of guys have this idea that women like cool aloof emotionally distant guys. Actually what they are really doing by behaving that way is impressing each other-not women. The majority of women very much like romance.
You are talking to the wrong guys. Even when i was married 12 years, I would leave little notes in my wife’s purse saying “I love you,” and I would sometimes have a local jewelry maker “Make something for her!” and surprise her with it. I picked her up from work a lot too, just so she wouldn’t have to take the subway and we’d have a little time together. Her girlfriends would say “Does he have a brother?” I am stupid romantic, can’t help it, it turns me on.
