If your parents are cool, have thoroughly looked at themselves and are used to talking about deep subjects between themselves and their friends, then it’s usually no problem. If your parents are repressed, fucked-up, deep into religion or some other form of worship that demands not only adherence to a lie but to lie to themselves, everyone they know and their children, they are going to be mighty upset if a child wants to talk about sex or anything else that’s deep. There are people known as “suppressors” who not only suppress their own dark thoughts, but require those around them to also suppress, or get very, very upset.
