I have a story to share, and I hope those reading will take the message into account in their lives. (won’t share all details though)
Today I went to this outdoors mall and got ice cream. It cost 2 coins, and my mom and I bought two. While my mom ate one, I was busy eating the other when I saw a balloon fly to my right. The wind was dragging it in a ton of directions, and out of instinct (and maybe the fact that I freaking love balloons) I ran to the balloon with ice cream in hand to try to catch it. I noticed a man was also chasing it, so it seemed that the balloon belonged to him. Right before I caught the balloon, my ice cream fell onto the food court floor and on my sneaker. The man caught up to me and saw everything that happened, so he thanked me and said it was a pity what happened (in a non-mocking way, just so you know). I walked back to my mom and told her everything that happened. We had a good laugh about it and I gave her what was left of my ice cream.
Shortly after, a lady came up to me and asked me if I was the one who caught the balloon for her daughter. I said yes, and she then went on to ask me how much I spent on the ice cream that fell. I couldn’t believe that the lady was willing to repay me for something so simple. She gave me two coins and went back to where she came from, most likely to the man I mentioned earlier and her daughter. Later I saw the man carrying a little toddler in his arms. She was holding the same balloon in her hands with a cute, smiley expression on her face.
It just goes how much it means to do a good deed. Don’t let anything discourage you from simply being nice and paying it forward. Even if you don’t earn anything, just know you did something good, and it truly means something in the end. Life is too short to spend it on not making the world a little bit happier, even the smallest things.
Ma’am, you will probably never find this, but thank you. I will never forget this positive experience, and I hope you, your daughter, and that man will be well for a long time.
